Apple Accounting Explained

Modified on Mon, 8 Jul, 2024 at 2:31 PM

Apple does not report on a calendar month. They use a fiscal calendar, which will not always include the last several days of the month.

This can be confusing for users who have been using the monthly sales charts, which show estimates based upon the calendar month, which reports from the first day of the month to the last day of the month. The monthly charts are very good at predicting trends and helping you determine the effectiveness of your marketing efforts, however they should never be used for accounting purposes, as it is the final month end numbers provided that gets paid out to you by the vendor store sites, and only these numbers can be used for fiscal accounting.

All of our vendors only pay out transactions that "closed out" during their reporting period, so it is frequently the case that sales that fall at the end of the month are reporting as part of your online sales, but not reflected in your payment. If the transaction has not completely closed out and finalized, it will be reported on the following month's pay cycle.
