If you have an ISBN that has been listed previously with another service, that service will be registered as the Vendor of Record. The submission and distribution for your print book can not be completed until the Vendor of Record on the ISBN(s) have been released from the previous service.
Also, if your print book is currently available through another distributor, you will also need to ensure that your print book listing through KDP does not have global distribution enabled.
We recommend that you send a request to the current print distributor so that they can reach out to their LightningSource representative. They will need to inform LightningSource that you will be printing these previously listed book project ISBNs through Draft2Digital now, instead. For best results, we recommend you be as specific as possible about which which books/ISBNs you are talking about.
We've provided an example email request that you might send to your previous print listing partner in order to get them to release your ISBN's Vendor of Record.
Example Email you might send to request a Vendor of Record (VoR) change. |
Your company is listed as my Vendor of Record on my print book. Please release the ISBN to me so that I may publish these print books through Draft2Digital instead.
I confirm that I wish to use Draft2Digital to publish and distribute these book projects with the current ISBN(s). Kindest Regards, [YOUR AUTHOR NAME] |
Once your books' ISBNs have been successfully released, please contact us so we can continue to assist with the publication and distribution of this title through our Print service.
Vendor of record transfers require human intervention and coordination from several companies which often takes a few days to work out so your patience is appreciated.
