If I Format my Word File Myself, Will it Look the Same When D2D Converts it?

Modified on Wed, 5 Feb at 4:44 PM

No. Ebooks are a reflowable format that allows the reader a lot of flexibility in how they consume content, and Draft2Digital has handcrafted our conversion for a generalized purpose: to provide the best reader experience.

Draft2Digital’s automated conversion process will strip out things that force formatting to be one exact way— embedded fonts, extra line breaks, empty pages, footnotes, or anything the system considers unnecessary to the final file.

If you are an expert, we encourage you to format and upload an epub (or for print, a PDF). No direct file editing will be done to epubs (or print PDF interior files) uploaded by you, so your formatting should be allowed to pass through the system unchanged.

Our goal is to make your story look as good as we can on the devices readers use. Fancy page formatting doesn't always convert well.
